What a seasonal visit covers
Maintenance here is seasonal rather than weekly, and the visits are not interchangeable — spring is about getting ahead of the growing season, fall is about setting the yard up to survive the winter:
- Spring clean-up: clearing winter debris, cutting back last year's growth, first weeding pass and a mulch top-up before weeds establish.
- Weeding, including the rock beds, where dust and debris settle between stones and let weeds colonise.
- Pruning sized to the plant's mature form, not just tidying the outline.
- Refreshing beds and topping up mulch — shredded cedar and hardwood break down and need replacing every two to three years.
- Re-cutting edges, which is where most of the ongoing weeding fight actually happens.
- Fall clean-up and cutting back before the first hard freeze.
Nothing is zero maintenance
Anyone promising a yard that needs nothing is selling something. But the difference between a landscape that eats your weekends and one that needs a few hours a season is enormous, and it is decided at the design stage — reduced turf, the right plant in the right place, plants grouped by water need, drip irrigation on a smart controller, steel edging and clean transitions. If your yard is fighting you every weekend, the honest answer is often a design change rather than a maintenance contract, and we will say so.
Taking on a yard that has got away
We also do one-off reclamations: overgrown lots cleared, brush and waist-high weeds taken out, neglected beds cut back and re-edged. That is a bigger job than a seasonal visit, and it makes sense to do it once properly and then keep it with regular clean-ups rather than repeating the reclamation every few years.
