What lawn & sod installation looks like with S&C

We install sod and rebuild tired lawns across Colorado Springs and the Tri-Lakes area, from a bare dirt patch to an even green lawn framed by mulch, flagstone and river rock. Good turf here is mostly groundwork: the soil has to be prepared and levelled properly, the edges have to be defined, and the irrigation has to actually reach the whole area. Laid over unprepared clay, sod knits unevenly and shows every low spot within a season.

Every lawn & sod installation project is quoted after a free on-site visit, so the price reflects your actual yard rather than a guess over the phone. You work directly with owners Chris and Simeon — the same two people who walk the property, draw the plan and run the crew — backed by 15 years of combined experience across the Front Range.

What’s included

New sod installation & lawn renovation
Soil prep, levelling and clean edging
Turf reduction where the lawn is not being used

How much lawn do you actually use?

We will install as much sod as you want, but we would rather say this first: grass is by far the most demanding thing in a Colorado yard — mowing, watering, fertilising, aerating, overseeding, all of it every year. Lawn that gets used by children, dogs or people is worth every bit of that. Lawn that exists because it came with the house, in a strip nobody walks on, is a standing bill. Replacing the part you do not use with xeriscape, native planting or hardscape cuts your workload and your water bill at once, and Colorado Springs Utilities has run turf-replacement rebate programmes that can offset a meaningful share of the cost.

What a sod installation involves

The visible part takes a day. The part that decides how it looks in year three is underneath it:

  • Clearing and removing whatever is there now, including weeds and dead turf.
  • Soil preparation and levelling — this is where an even lawn is won or lost.
  • Grading so the lawn drains rather than holding water in a low corner.
  • Laying sod tight, with staggered seams, and rolling it in.
  • Cutting clean edges against beds, walkways and rock, so the boundary does not become a weeding job.

Overgrown lots and reclamations

A good share of our lawn work is not new sod at all — it is reclaiming a yard that got away from someone. We have taken corner lots buried in waist-high weeds and brush back to cut, edged grass, and brought front yards of dead grass and tall weeds back to a mowed lawn with fresh beds cut in along the foundation. If your yard is at that stage, it is a clean-up and renovation job before it is anything else, and it is very often cheaper than you expect.
